Rest + Refocus

Hi there, thank you for stopping by my art blog. I wanted to share with you that this will be my last post on this blog in order to rest and limit my time on the computer. Due to some personal health concerns and my desire to seek God's word more, especially during a season in my life where my days are filled, I will be putting a halt to posting on my art blog, therefore this blog will currently be inactive but the remaining content will be available for you to view. Hopefully, I'll be able to continue this blog in the future.

My direction will focus more on sharing content on my Doodle Thinks blog as well as sharing any personal side projects on my art journal. You can also view some of my personal art work on my portfolio, and I will have all content on this blog still available to you including downloading any freebies. With this note, may you have a wonderful love filled day and a restful night.

It's been a while since I have worked on some greeting card designs and felt encouraged to give some love to my greeting card collection, hey! doodles, which I'm also rebranding and it's been fun! I love cheesy cards and sayings and decided to work on some adorable Kawaii inspired greeting cards from some clip art that I made. I wanted to post this early in order to give you breathing room during this holiday season to hopefully take part in Operation Christmas Child. Send the simple gift of a shoebox filled with gifts for a child in need this Christmas season. This is a great way to get your children involved and have them live out the true meaning of kindness. Children can track where their gifts end up and even make a new pen pal from across the globe! How fun! I hope that you'll get involved and participate. Visit here for more details to begin or check your local community/church to see if they are already involved to pick up your shoebox and list. The last day to pack a shoebox is November 19. God bless and have a wonderful holiday season.

Although I'm not near the ocean and visit it as much like I use to, it is still one of my favorite places to visit and photograph my children playing.  Here is a photo archive taken a few years ago in San Diego, CA of my little guy doing what he loves to do - run and run some more! Have a wonderful week folks. On a side note, the grainy quality is inspired by film photography, a craft I hope to learn more of.

I titled this piece, "Minimal Pop," due to the minimal and abstract styles of art inspired by this floral photograph. With the use of natural light and post editing techniques I was able to convey the softness of this poppy. Check out my color version photograph of poppies.

Hello, New Adventure

I created this image to share with you my new adventure on Pinterest and streamlining my social media accounts. I decided to no longer use Instagram and Facebook in order to have more time creating art and doing life. I felt a desire to have more focus and managing multiple social media accounts was a bit distracting and required time I wasn't able to give. Therefore, I hope my Pinterest journey will be one that will help showcase my art and TpT endeavors. Have a great week folks!

I love photographing flowers and painting a more darker tone on the image, since there is a nice contrast to the colors of the flowers.  A photograph of poppies, one of those flowers that has such personality.

Beyond Water

Hey there! So what comes to mind when you think of summer (I'm so looking forward to summer and it already feels like summer here in central California!)? When I think of summer...I think of watermelon, the sun, sprinklers, ocean/sandy beaches and the cool water that we jump in or drink in; days of relaxing in the warmth and feeling grateful for a slower pace season. For those of you that may not know, a few years ago I signed up to become a Compassion Blogger in order to use my blog as a tool to spread the important message of gifting love to children in need. Therefore, I'm grateful I was able to respond to Compassion's writing prompt for this month about water and what life would be like without it for a week. I can already imagine how uncomfortable I would be, how limited cooking meals would be, how smelly my family and I would be, how challenging it would be to wash our dirty hands and feet, since I love to be outside gardening and watching my kids play in the dirt and mud. I know my initial reaction would be one of panic if I turned on the water and nothing came out. I know I would feel a sense of relief as soon as I get clean water again. But that feeling of panic would only be brief since I know that clean water will soon be available to me because in the U.S clean water is readily available. Whereas, there are billions of people all over the world without access to basic clean water; something I have taken for granted. Read more about the staggering statistics of water around the world and if you would like to help others receive access to clean water, please donate to The Water and Sanitation Fund through Compassion. Thank you for reading my words and until fingers meet keys. . . enjoy your day!

I took this photo years ago and have always loved this photograph since capturing this image propelled me to have more of an interest in abstract photography. When I have more time on my hands, I hope to explore this subject matter more in depth. Therefore, stay tune...for now, I hope you all have a blessed and loving week.

Carry One Another

5/10/2018

When I took this photograph, I wanted to play with perspective and I got really low to the ground to capture my son being carried by his gracious cousin during a day at the river. In looking at this image, I am reminded of how it is important for us to help carry one another's burdens or, simply, to lend a helping hand.

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
- Charles Dickens

River Play

It is always fun having cousins visit and exploring new places. My sweet girl M had a great time getting her feet wet in this river near our home. She is definitely a get-your-hands-and-feet-dirty kind of gal. The more muddy her hands and feet are, the happier she becomes. I sure love childhood play; blessed to be able to capture it.
