I think fear is a complex emotion but yet simple. I hope I am able to explain what I mean. As beautiful survivors we know too well fear; it lingers, it taunts, and it mocks. For each of us our fear is different: fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of being vulnerable, fear of being hurt again, fear of being close to someone, etc. These fears are all too real for us because they are magnified due to our past trauma, the layers of pain and feelings become more complex. So we carry that fear into our adult lives which, I think, is covered up in perfectionism, wanting to be in control, distance from others, shame, addiction, anger, etc. This is the complex part of fear. But the simple part is that fear is a LIE. There's no truth to the fear we feel if we truly allow ourselves to explore it rather than embrace it. Since it's a lie, the simple part is training ourselves to reject that lie. It's simple because to attack a lie, we counter it with truth, we may not feel unafraid right away but ultimately we will begin to believe that truth wholeheartedly. And that truth comes from scriptures, God's word. When we continue to live in fear, we are believing that lie and not trusting God. This is no way undermining that our struggles are real, to me my ptsd is real when panic attacks are met with fear. The more I reject the fear and work through it all, the more the chaos stirs and the more I cling to Jesus. Hope that makes sense because I'm still working on it. Keep on keeping on...remember, God is in control. Therefore, I pray for us to live a life of boldness in whatever God has planned for us since each one of our journey is different but God is constant. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of sound mind."
