This is a watercolor piece titled, "Run Wild." I didn't have a name for this piece until after completing it. My husband surprised me with a CD by one of my favorite bands, For King and Country, and a song titled "Run Wild" came on and in listening to the lyrics I knew it fit perfectly to this piece.
***October 25, 2016: Fast forward over a year later and I now understand how personal this piece is to me. It's quite funny but freeing to know that as an artist, I do not have to always completely understand a piece of my work right when it is completed. Grateful to God for showing me His grace through art. There is a parallel to my struggles with ptsd and anxiety in this piece. Before healing, I started off being trapped in a cage (lower birdcage); in healing, I am like a bird in the cage with the door open, free to fly away but at times afraid to, or at times, flying out of the cage but eventually flying right back in. I am excited to know that one day God will give me the strength to not ever fly back into the cage. But for now, I am grateful that the door is always opened and I am free to fly in and out of the cage.
