Happy Birthday America! It is my hope that we are reminded of how fortunate we are to live in a country where we are endowed inalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Despite these trying times, it is my hope and prayer that we learn to shift our focus on a heart of gratitude rather than anger, a heart of hope rather than unforgiveness, a heart of courage rather than fear and a heart of peace rather than division. As someone whose parents and siblings survived the atrocities of a Marxist (socialist/communist) regime known as The Khmer Rouge, I am deeply grateful for those that sponsor my family and I (I was a baby in my mother's womb during this time and born in a refugee camp before getting sponsor) to America and for a country, although imperfect, that gave my family and I refuge and opportunities to choose life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Most of all, I am grateful to God for this life that is filled with love, trials and hope. Hug your loved ones and pray for your enemies. Thanks for reading my words. "May we think of freedom not as the right to do as we please, but as the opportunity to do what is right."-Peter Marshall
