I'm so grateful I was able to take a lot of photographs of my son and daughter when they were younger because the time really did fly by. I'll have a teenager soon and because they are less than 15 months apart, I can't believe I'll be having two teenagers. I don't dread them growing up or becoming unruly teenagers because I like to believe that when given constant love and consistent correction they will be loving and respectful teenagers. Besides, I think it would be unfair of me to label the teenage years as difficult years as they have not reached this age, and they have shown me otherwise how loving and respectful they are as children, so I'm optimistic and feel confident that they'll be amazing teenagers.
This informal photoshoot was a fun and creative process and I'm glad my kids were patient with me as my artistic mode really kicked in as I took multiple photographs. I'm just glad they had a lot of fun walking and running up the stairs. I'm drawn to black and white photographs as well as the quality and texture of film photography, and I was excited this image helped to convey my creative vision. Image captured, 2018.

Hi there, thank you for taking time to read this post. Time sure flies by and we are already in July! For Americans, we celebrated Independence Day yesterday and it was fun to hear firecrackers going off in my neighborhood. I'm just grateful my lovable cat wasn't bothered by the noise. I began my journey of simplicity a little over a decade ago and have noticed that I don't celebrate holidays, birthdays, or anniversaries as elaborate as I use to when it comes to material elements. I started to shift my focus more on the intangible things that a specific holiday may mean to me. Therefore, I wanted to share with you what Independence Day mean to me. When I think of Independence Day, I think of freedom and God's grace in my life. Without His grace and the compassion of Christian missionaries who sponsored my childhood family from Cambodia to the United States, I would've remain in a country during a time in which it was recovering from the devastation of being overtaken by a socialist, communist regime. I wouldn't have been afforded rights that I've been blessed with and privileged to have. I wouldn't have had access to awesome opportunities and, for these things, I'm grateful to be an American. But if I was to dig deeper in regard to freedom, what is most important to me is the freedom that I have when I place my faith in God and I'm thankful to be a child of God. So, even if your story is filled with simplicity and isn't filled with tragedies, I hope that you may see, that there is freedom in loving Jesus and there is always hope when we place it in His hands. Thank you for reading my words and make it a creative day today. Image captured, 2011. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

This photograph was taken a few months ago and has significant meaning to me as the hummingbird, which I named Hummie, appeared to me after we loss our beloved dog, Zuke. The lost was painful but it was a peaceful one as he was ill for years and we were relieved that he was no longer in pain or uncomfortable. Hummie appeared in the sky at our backyard during a lovely day. I was so excited to see him as I adore birds. His appearance reminded me of God's grace and the impactful beauty that life continues to offer us despite any losses along the way. Count your blessings today.
This is an image that makes me smile each time I see it. I remember wanting to play with perspective and being really low when capturing my son and nephew on a walk to a local river. I love the green colors in this photograph. Image captured, May 2018.
